What's Growing On??                                    November 2008

Welcome to the latest addition to our web site.  Watch this page for new
products and ideas from Bel-R.  Our goal is to communicate better with you
about changes in our product mix, and also pass along new ideas that we
become aware of that might help you in your business.

    New for winter . . .
Based on last year's primrose trial that we hosted here at Bel-R last January,
we have added the Real series and Tiara Rose Orange Bicolor primroses.

The Real series was added for the later part of the season, as it naturally
blooms a little later than the Danova series.  We are adding these in hopes of
providing you with similar colors to the Danova's, but with a longer shelf life.

Tiara Rose Orange Bicolor is a striking color that is available for 2009.  Several
attendees stated that it was a great color and would be a lot of fun to work with
in the landscape.  Try it with yellows and sky blue for a soft look.  However, if
you want to make a bold statement, check it out with reds and burgundies.

It made me say Hmmmm . . .
I was at the Bellevue Botanical Gardens recently and noticed just how many
people were there taking pictures of plants and fall color.  There were also
several families there with professional and amateur photographers taking
    pictures for Christmas cards, etc.

I started to think about garden centers and the universal problem with "getting
people into the store".  Why not partner with a photographer in your community
and create a "garden setting" to have pictures taken at your store?  There are
several ways to do it from the very simple with a nice backdrop and a few
planters and trees, to an actual garden space. . . . or host an amateur
photography contest at your store.  Maybe even bring in a professional to give
tips or a class about photographing nature.  After all, nature is what we sell.  In
either case, you will draw people into your store that might not otherwise stop in
    for garden products.   Hmmmm . . .
